NYC Travel Guide: Day 1

Todays blog post will be a little different from normal. If you follow me on Instagram then you already know a few weeks ago, my husband David and I took a little trip to New York City.

We started the day off with a little bit of shopping on the Upper West Side. Next we peeked around the Columbus Circle Christmas Market, walked through Central Park to of course take some blog photos. I love walking through Central Park with all the snow, it’s so picturesque. We then meet up with my sister Samantha, her boyfriend Micah, my sisters friend Diana and her boyfriend Sean at Bryant Park. If you’re every in NYC during the month of December, I would definitely check out Bryant Park. They have super cute holiday shops and some yummy food stands.

One of the food stands I stopped at was Home Frite. Home Frite, is a Belgium style fries fast food restaurant located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. As there aren’t many Dutch food restaurants located in New York, Belgium fries will just have to do! I of course, had the Dutch Fries from the menu which includes curry Ketchup, aioli, diced onion. Or in other words if you’re Dutch, patatje oorlog (war fries) YUM!

After our little trip to Bryant Park we walked to 230 Fifth. Which is New York’s largest outdoor Rooftop Garden and Fully enclosed Penthouse Lounge. Throughout the winter months, you can experience 360° views of New York City’s skyline from your very own igloo! How fun?! We have hot cider while we chatted and took in the beautiful skyline. I do have to say at first we did have to share an igloo. Each igloo probably fits about 10 people.

We were all a little hungry, so we decided to walk to The Stanton Social. Located at 99 Stanton Street on the Lower East Side. We were at the Stanton Social durning Happy Hour, and they had some yummy choices to choose from. Which included the French Onion Soup Dumplings and the Korean Tacos. The Korean Tacos were just a little too spicy for me, but the French Onion Soup Dumplings were just heaven! For a quick dessert we ordered the Birthday Cake Milkshake Shot.

After the Stanton Social we spotted possibly the coolest pop up bar ever Jingle Hells, an Anti- Holiday Bar. This pop-up bar was a promotion for the new SYFY show HAPPY! Starring Christopher Meloni as a drunken ex-cop-turned-hit man and Patton Oswald as a tiny, imaginary blue pegasus named Happy. As stated on the official website for the bar Jingle Hell’s isa  protest against the annual insanity known as the holidays.

Finally out last stop was another favorite of mine Pommes Frites, authentic Belgian fries. Located at 128 Macdougal Street in the Lower east side. If your ever in the area, I would definitely head over to Pommes Frites for some yummy fries.

If you’re planning on going to NYC anytime, I would try to make some room to visit these places. Unfortunately, since Jingle Hell’s was pop-up bar, the bar is not longer there. I would recommend going to Rolf’s, where they have Christmas decorations all over the ceiling. Rolf’s a German restaurant and bar with an old-world vibe. They are certainly know for their elaborate holiday decorations. Located at 281 3rd Ave.
